The Fourth Wing

Rebecca Yarros

Fantasy Novel

Series 1/3

Our review: Magic, dragons and survival.

Made for the New Adult audience - there are many sexual scenes.

The writing style may have been edited to reflect younger readers or that’s just how the author writes.

Lacking depth but overall a good fantasy.

New Adult Fantasy

Five star graphics, three filled with gold color and two outlined with gold, representing a rating scale.

The Witcher

Andrzej Sapkowski

Fantasy Novel

Series 1/8

Our review: If you loved the TV series then you’ll love the book. A mix of pure fantasy magic and swords clashing in a medieval setting - also dragons.

The writing style is a little jumpy on occasion but I’m the sort of reader who doesn’t get hung up on that. Don’t get me wrong it’s still very well written and pacey which suits me.

Characters are solid and true to the TV or games.

Also an outstanding TV series.

Fantasy for adults

Five yellow star icons, with the last star outlined but not filled in.

Sea Of Souls

N. C. Scrimgeour

Fantasy Novel

Standalone

Our review: A refreshingly different fantasy.

Set in Scotland where ocean folklore abounds. A young woman finds her place in the world in an unusual way.

The writing is very good coupled with a different story line for the fantasy genre which has earned it four stars.

Fantasy for adults.

Very well written

Five star rating graphic with four filled yellow stars and one empty star outline.

The Forbidden

Lori Holmes

Fantasy Novel

Standalone / Series 1/4

Our review: Magic against a back drop of survival.

Page-turning fantasy that gallops along.

Just a little head’s up, although this is a series this story ends and a new one begins albeit in the same setting.

High fantasy for adults.

Five-star rating graphic with four filled-in gold stars and one outlined star.
